With nearly thirty years of classroom experience, Gary Scott has taught in a variety of settings, including English as a Foreign Language and programs serving at-risk youth.

Mr. Scott's teaching career began internationally. For seven years, he taught English in Lipnica Wielka, a small village in southern Poland. The work presented constant challenges but proved immensely rewarding. Upon returning to the United States, his first position was as a teaching assistant in an EC classroom, working primarily with students on the autism spectrum. During the 2006–2007 school year, Mr. Scott worked at a day-treatment facility for at-risk youth where he taught social studies, science, executive functioning, and social skills. It remains one of the most challenging and rewarding positions of his career. From 2007 to 2025, he taught eighth-grade English at Hughes Academy of Science and Technology. His primary assignment was teaching English 8 and English I Honors to eighth-grade students. During his tenure, he earned a reputation as a tough but fair teacher who maintained high expectations while supporting student success.

In 2025, he joined Greer Preparatory Academy for its inaugural year. He teaches sixth-grade Leadership.

Mr. Scott graduated from King College in Bristol, Tennessee, with a degree in English and a minor in Secondary Education. n 2012, he completed a Master’s degree in Secondary English Education at Converse College.

While living in Poland, he met and married his wife. Together they have two wonderful children. The family returns to Poland whenever possible, enjoying the opportunity to revisit the charm and beauty of rural village life.

Outside the classroom, he enjoys reading, writing, playing chess, and cycling.
